Maintenance organization set up in record time
Euro Tank Terminal outsources all maintenance work to Stork
|
ETT, part of Vitol, has been operational since April last year. The terminal has eight storage tanks with a total capacity of 280,000m3. The tanks are primarily used for storing fuel oil. ETT's policy is to outsource all services. Stork was asked to enter into a partner relationship to take care of the entire maintenance operations. Keep it simpleRichard Aalten, Senior Maintenance Consultant at Stork: "ETT asked us to develop a maintenance concept on the basis of risks (criticality). In doing so we looked at factors that are essential for the maintenance and production processes. The assignment was to 'keep it simple'. Only tackle those items that are needed to comply with all the legal requirements and norms. During the process we decided to screen all the assets with all the components of the Optimizer+ program. That means that all pipes, valves, filters, etc. were examined. The result is that we now have a good insight into the (necessary) maintenance operations."

"Fast, competent and professional." Ronald van de Zande, manager of Euro Tank Terminal (ETT) in Rotterdam Europoort, is very pleased about the effective and efficient way in which Stork Asset Management Solutions has set up the maintenance organization for this new terminal.
Van de Zande: "The fact is that we are not specialists in maintenance. But in order to comply with all the legal rules and requirements in the field of safety and ecology, and literally to keep everything running, maintenance is, of course, an essential part of the organization. And for that we have called in the help of Stork."
Good co-operation
According to Van de Zande the organization of the maintenance was set up in record time. "In close co-operation with us, Stork has achieved a great deal in the space of a few weeks, including the setting up of a maintenance concept based on risks and the implementation of the Computerized Maintenance Management System Maximo on Best Practices basis. The management of the technical documentation is an aspect that does still need attention. However, we will be tackling that as soon as possible."
Further development
The theme for the coming time is further development of the maintenance organization. "The foundation has been laid. Now it's time to fine-tune", says Van de Zande. "Stork will now begin training and supervising our employees in the field of maintenance."
Realize optimal maintenance
Cok Sprangers, Business Unit Manager at Stork: "It is important in that context that we continue to monitor the process we have set up. Only through good co-operation will we be able to realize optimal maintenance." Van de Zande: "It is also important that as a low cost terminal we continue to keep a sharp eye on the costs. But Stork has already demonstrated that it is not only good at maintenance, it is also good at reducing the costs of that maintenance."
