‘International, finance, short lines’
Ben te Beek (24) followed a finance traineeship and is now assistant controller.
“I noticed Stork early in my Business Administration studies, partly through the enthusiasm of Stork people that I met at a business day. I got the impression that it was a very varied company, and that proved to be the case as I found out for myself. I found the international scope of the company and the combination of finance and technology to be important plus points.
As finance trainee I worked on four very different projects over a two-year period. I worked closely together with technicians on the shopfloor, and I worked in office jobs in which I was able to find out more about the financial aspects. As well as that I led a six-month improvement project at a site in the USA. At all those locations I learned a lot about the different departments, and I was challenged every time to come up with solutions myself. I’m very enthusiastic about traineeships.
Stork is a very diversified company that offers a lot of opportunities. The lines of communication are short, with few hierarchical layers, and people are very open for your views and your contribution. I’ve learned to be proactive – say what you think, ask whatever you need to know, and take all the opportunities that come up. And that it’s worthwhile to really listen to the people you meet in your network.”
