STOOP project fits Stork like a glove
Hengelo is home to the waste incineration plant of Twence. Twence has four enormous units, comprising three waste incinerators and one biomass incinerator. Stork Technical Services is responsible for maintaining part of the incinerators. To that end, Stork initiated the STOOP project: the Stork Twence Onderhouds Optimalisatie Project [Maintenance Optimization Project]. In 2011, the maintenance plans will be devised and the implementation of these plans into the ‘maintenance management system’ will be completed. Preparatory work - which commenced in 2007 – has entered its final phase.
“Twence chose Stork Consultancy because of our experience in the waste sector and because of our unique, self-developed six-step method”, explains Sjoerd Andringa, project leader of Stork. “In six steps, we progress from the inventory stage to a complete, carefully thought-out and practice-based maintenance plan. A thorough risk assessment and efficient work practices are important, both in terms of the actual maintenance plan and in the process which precedes it. We also evaluate the maintenance plan and, where necessary, implement improvements. Stork does not create maintenance plans that only look good on the shelf. We genuinely focus on the customer.” In addition, Stork assisted Twence in drawing up an integrity report, which sets out the legislative and regulatory requirements regarding installation, and which are safeguarded by the maintenance plans.
Knowledge and experience
Stork’s project-based approach and extensive knowledge and experience were also decisive factors in its appointment. The board of Twence can count on the unsurpassed expertise of the Business Line Consultancy of Stork Technical Services, their maintenance personnel benefit from specialist knowledge and experience. Andringa: “Working for Stork means putting theory into practice. We actually know what we are talking about, and we keep our word. That is why none of our STOOP projects have ever gone over budget or schedule. This project demonstrates our commitment to our slogan ‘Thinking and Doing’. Twence is extremely satisfied.”
