Until the end of 2012 Stork Technical Services (STS) is to be the sponsor of the technical team for Holland’s Rabo Cycling Team. Doug Meikle, CEO, and Harold Knebel, director of the Rabo Cycling Team, signed the sponsorship contract during the Amstel Gold Race in Valkenburg, Netherlands, on 17 April. As the official maintenance team sponsor STS will support the Rabo Cycling Team mechanics with advice and equipment.

A good match
For more than 180 years STS has been offering asset integrity, consultation and maintenance services to companies in the chemical, oil & gas and energy industries, among others, ensuring that they run their businesses without interruption. Similarly, the Rabo mechanics perform an indispensable role to ensure that the riders get safely across the finishing line. Performing at a continuously high level is precisely what links STS and the Rabo Cycling Team. 

For Doug Meikle this sponsorship is therefore a logical choice. “Just like the Rabo Cycling Team mechanics, Stork Technical Services is characterized by the speed and excellence of its technical maintenance,” says Meikle. “As with the cycling teams, we focus on teamwork so that everything runs like clockwork, with safety and reliability in the forefront. We are both involved in “thinking and doing”, each in our own area of expertise. That’s why we are especially proud to be able to make a contribution to the performance of the Rabobank riders.”

Power of innovation
As the official maintenance team sponsor STS will advise and offer support to the Rabo mechanics regarding innovative concepts for maintenance, stock control, truck design, warehouse and the safety of the vehicle fleet. In addition, STS will supply some of the equipment and know-how to help carry out the technical work even better as well as provide the riders with top-class materials.
Rabo Cycling Team’s Knebel backs this up. “In Stork Technical Services we have a partner that supports us in our aim to further improve the technical processes relating to the teams,” he says. “In major sports the difference between profit and loss is frequently found in the small details.
